Chrysalids: Loyalty as a theme

Loyalty is a major theme in the Chrysalids. When David tells Uncle Axel about his telepathy, it shows that he trust his uncle far more than his father. This shows how innocent and trusting he is at that age. It shows the beginning of his education about his societies views. In his society, there is very little loyalty to each other. Most people cannot rely on each other on matters such as mutations or anything that could be slightly related. David's aunt is clearly on her last options when she goes to other people for help. This shows that Loyalty is a major theme and a sociopolitical message in this book.
